An Apprentice's journey

Kayleigh, our Customer Service Advisor

Kayleigh started her Level 3 Customer Service Specialist apprenticeship in October 2018.

After completing her apprenticeship in January 2020, Kayleigh became a permanent member of our Customer Service Team. We would like to share her journey with you.

 

Why did you decide to become an apprenticeship?

I always wanted to gain customer service experience within the housing sector. This apprenticeship was exactly what I was looking for in terms of on the job training and working towards achieving a qualification.

 

How has the apprenticeship helped you progress in your career?

Throughout the apprenticeship, I was provided with a variety of training sessions and opportunities to assist other departments with a range of projects. This helped me to develop both job related and transferable skills. Working here has been the perfect environment for me to enhance my skills and develop my career.

 

What happened after your apprenticeship ended?

After completing the apprenticeship, I applied for a permanent role within the team. I feel fortunate to be able to continue advancing my career at SBHG. I hope to progress into a managerial role in the future.

 

Do you have any advice for future apprentices?

Make the most of the opportunity. Be enthusiastic, open minded and have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude. This will help you adapt quickly to the role and be ready to tackle new tasks and challenges. Besides that, do not be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. Remember, you are there to learn!
