SBHG have recently been accredited the Investing in Volunteers standard – only the seventh UK housing association to be granted the status.
Throughout 2016/17, SBHG supported 28 volunteers in opportunities across the business. These volunteers are involved in areas across the organisation, including at the Furnish shops in Ruislip and Fulham and at SBHG’s head office in Chiswick.
Investing in Volunteers is a national quality standard for organisations supported by volunteers. To achieve the accreditation, businesses have to show their commitment to good volunteer management against nine indicators, including appropriate resourcing, recruitment, volunteer support and procedures.
To achieve the accreditation, SBHG volunteers, staff and board members were interviewed by the accreditors to gain a picture of volunteering at SBHG. The assessment process also provided us with the means to develop our volunteering agreements, which have been adapted to ensure they are volunteer-friendly.
“This is a fantastic achievement for SBHG,” said Natalie Wright, Community Investment Manager. “The accreditation shows our volunteers and potential volunteers how much they are valued by us as an organisation, giving them confidence in our ability to provide an outstanding volunteer experience and service.”
