Let’s talk health!

Picture of Stan Rogerson having a massageShepherds Bush Housing Group has launched ‘Let’s talk health’ to support vulnerable members of the community to live independently and healthily.

The sessions will offer residents with a disability or long-term health condition a free therapeutic massage and health check.

Stan Rogerson, from Hounslow, attended the first event. He said: “I can’t do much exercise because of the pain I’m in, but I’ve been given tips on how I can still improve my health. I found everyone really helpful.

"The massage was a new experience and I learnt about things I can do at home to relax. I’m now keen to find out more about what I can do in the community and get regular support.”

Rose Hircock, SBHG’s supported housing manager, said: “Our Let’s talk health days mean residents meet other people locally who face similar issues. They can learn new skills and make new friends. For some it gets them out the house which they may not do very often.

“This is just one of the many services we offer to vulnerable residents in west London. Services like these mean SBHG’s resident satisfaction is among the highest in London.”

The sessions are partly funded by The City Bridge Trust which awards grants to charitable projects benefiting people in London.
