MEND programme

Picture of children at the MEND graduationMEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it!) is a national programme dedicated to reducing obesity levels in children.

The Well-being project runs the MEND programme in Hammersmith and Fulham. The course is for families with children aged 7 to 13 whose weight is above the healthy range for their age and height. It runs twice a week after school in two-hour sessions over ten weeks.

Start dates of the MEND progammes are as follows:

Monday 20 February-Old Oak Community & Children's Centre, 76 Braybrook Street, London W12 0AP

Thursday 1 March-Affinity Hall, Townmead Estate, Wandsworth Bridge Road, London, SW6 2PD

All programmes will run on Mondays and Thursdays from 4pm-6pm. There will be breaks during the school holidays and families can still join at this time.

The well-being project works with the Football Foundation and QPR in the Community Trust. Our MEND trainers teach children and parents about healthy eating habits. Afterwards children learn football and exercise skills from the football club coaches.

Established in 2004, the MEND programme was devised at the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the University College London Institute of Child Health.

In addition to MEND’s healthy lifestyle programmes for children and their families we also offer MEND classroom resources, obesity management training for front-line staff and facilitated self-help programmes for adults.
