SBHG finalist in the ‘What We Are Proud of Awards.’

The awards celebrate unique services housing associations offer that benefit and enrich the lives of their residents.

SBHG was shortlisted for Furnish, our furniture re-use charity. The judges were impressed with the number of families who have benefited from furniture, given to them by Furnish. Furnish collect good quality second hand furniture and re-distribute it to residents in need. Furnish has a strong team of volunteers, giving them experience and support to help them back into work.

Furnish were also commended for helping the environment, re-using furniture means that it is not lost to land fill.

Furnish were one of three finalists in the London region of the awards.

Paul Doe, Chief Executive of SBHG said: “As a Group we are diverse and are able to offer distinctive services to our residents across west London. Furnish deserved to be shortlisted as they have helped over 3000 residents with basic furniture needs when they move into their home for the first time. Furnish has also supported over 30 volunteers who are now in full-time employment”

Notes
SBHG has more than 5000 homes in 11 west London boroughs.
Furnish, is part of Staying Put Services the charitable arm of SBHG.
Furnish have collected 692 tonnes of furniture, 692 tonnes furniture means 60,896 tonnes of Co2 have been saved.
The judges were a panel of social housing residents.
What We Are Proud Of Awards presentation took place on Thursday 11 June.
