Home improvements
Home improvements make a real difference, improving the home environment and enhancing the quality of everyday life. Crucially, they help people to stay in their own homes when this might not otherwise be possible. Staff can advise and help with access to grants, funds and loans for building work. They can also give advice on welfare benefits and information about other support services in the community.
Do you need central heating?
Keep Warm Grants up to £7,500 for central heating and insulation for home owners and private sector tenants to provide affordable warmth and improved levels of comfort. This is a discretionary grant and is therefore subject to budgets and means-testing by RBKC. Please contact us for more information.
The Keep Warm Grant is not available to TMO or Housing Association tenants who should contact their landlord in the first instance.
Please note that these grants are discretionary and RBKC will apply eligibility tests to ensure the limited funds are made available to those households that are in the greatest need.

Is your property in need of essential repairs?
We have surveyors who can provide you with advice, full surveys and specifications of work. We charge a small fee for survey and specification work. We also have an extensive list of approved contractors whom have gone through our vetting procedures and we can put you in touch with the right tradesmen for the work you require.
We can also give you details of alternative methods of funding major repair works, for example, RBKC are currently taking part in a pilot programme called the Home Cash Plan which has been developed with the assistance of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and can assist you in releasing equity from your home to pay for repairs.
