SBHG staff have greener footprints

Picture of carbon neutral posterStaff at Shepherds Bush Housing Group (SBHG) cut almost 14 kilos off their carbon footprints by taking part in “Cut out a kilo of CO2” campaign day.

Nine staff pledged to scrutinise the way they work – saving 13.17 kilos of carbon emissions in just one day. They’ll now be encouraging colleagues to do the same. Activities ranged from walking to work, homemade lunches, no printing for the day, using only recycled paper and car pooling.

David Blackburn, SBHG’s director of human resources and business support, said: “Earlier this year our head office in Chiswick was certified carbon neutral.

“We’re committed to reducing our footprint even further so we’ll be taking forward ideas from our ‘Cut out a kilo’ day.”

More than 50 companies around the country took part. Sharon Corrigan of the Carbon Neutral Company, who organised the day, said: “The feedback has been extremely positive and the campaign served as a great staff motivation tool to engage staff to reduce CO2 and to reduce costs.”
