Estate celebrates Neighbours Day and a 10th birthday

Children at the eventShepherds Bush Housing Group (SBHG) and residents of St Marks Close and Pegasus Place in Fulham celebrated Neighbours' Day and the 10th anniversary of their estate.

SBHG and the residents' association of St Marks Close and Pegasus Place organised a celebration of the two occasions by planting roses in the communal gardens and holding a street party. The roses were presented to residents by Maggie Ramadan, SBHA Board Member, and Mr Mohammed, a resident on the estate. There was food and music while residents sat on large tables together. The children played games and had their face painted.

The event was held on European Neighbours' Day; Friday 29 May. More than 50 people attended. St Marks Close and Pegasus Place were opened by SBHG on the grounds of St Marks School in May 1999.

Mr Mohammed said: “It is great that we are able to celebrate ten years on the close, many of the residents have lived here since it opened. During the event we were able to celebrate and share stories together.”

Maggie Ramadan said: “The place where we live is so important, and our neighbours are key to this. Celebrating Neighbours' Day is something we encourages to build strong communities. It's great to see all the neighbours of St Marks Close joining together and having a great time.”
