How much rent should I pay?

Rent is payable weekly, in advance. This is a condition of your tenancy agreement. The best way to ensure that you are paying the correct amount of rent is to pay your rent weekly, by direct debit. Direct debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay, because the money is paid out of your account automatically, and any changes - such as rent increases, are made on your behalf.

Many people choose to pay their rent monthly, when they get paid. This is fine, however you must ensure your rent account remains in at least one week's credit if you choose to pay this monthly. To work out how much to pay, if you are paying monthly, make the following calculation:

1. Take the weekly rate and divide this by seven (for the days in the week)
2.
Multiply the result by 365 (the days in a year)
3.
Divide this figure by 12 to get the monthly rent payable.
