Rent and money matters
Paying your rent and other charges must by your first priority in planning your budget. The alternative could be losing your home. We make it as easy as possible for you to pay your rent.
Your tenancy requires you to pay rent and service charges promptly. Most of us have difficulty with bills at some time. Sometimes the problem is temporary, sometimes the problem is longer term. We want to help if you get into difficulties.
If you have financial problems, please talk to your Income Officer as soon as possible. We can refer you to a debt advice service to help you plan your budget and negotiate with people you owe money to. You should also check you’re claiming all the benefits for which you are eligible.
Why is it important for me to pay my rent on time?
If we don't collect enough rent money, it will be harder for us to give you the kind of service that we have promised and the kind of service you want. To make sure we collect as much rent as we can, we have a number of Income Officers who can help you with making arrangements to pay your rent. They can help with advice on:
•paying your rent
•rent arrears
•how to get help with rent and other debts
•organising a payment plan to help you pay off your arrears
If you fail to make the required payments and do not contact us, we will take legal action to recover the money. If you fail to pay, you are in breach of your tenancy and you could lose your home. |
