It is important to be considerate of your neighbours. With a little thought and consideration you can reduce noise and improve relations with your neighbours.
You can do small things that could make a big difference, you should refrain from:
• Using your vacuum cleaner, washing machine, food processor or DIY tools between 11pm and 7am.
• Placing your television or sound system against party walls or place speakers on the floor (if you have neighbours below you).
• If you have a dog/s, do not to leave them alone for long periods and ensure they have regular exercise. This will hopefully reduce the amount they bark.
• Allowing your children to run around inside or outside your property late at night.
• Allowing your children to play in communal areas.
If you are planning on having a party you should be mindful that your neighbours will be disturbed. You should:
• Inform your neighbours, on all sides that you intend to hold a party.
• Give your neighbours a start and end time.
• If you have an outside area, you should encourage your guests to stay inside the property (this will confine the noise to inside the property).
• Give your neighbours a contact number so that they can inform you if the party is too loud.
• Invite a suitable number of guests for the size of your property.
• Advise your guests to leave your property in a quiet and respectable manner.
• Invite your neighbours.
