Adding som eone to my tenancy
Residents are entitled to form joint tenancies with their partners. We must be satisfied that the request for joint tenancy status is made as a result of the couple's genuine desire to live in the accommodation as partners. We never discriminate for reasons of marital status or sexual orientation.
We require clear evidence that they have been living together as partners for one year (in the case of existing relationships) and are still living together as partners in one year's time from the date of application (in the case of new relationships).
Permission to grant a tenancy is subject to our being satisfied that the request is the desire of both parties, there is no breach of conditions of tenancy or any breach has been satisfactorily remedied. The sole tenancy must be surrendered before a new joint tenancy is granted.
We will allow existing secure sole tenants to keep their secure status and grant a further secure tenancy when they become joint tenants.
