Moving Home
We provide housing for people in housing need. This is both to existing tenants who want to transfer homes and to new tenants moving into one of our homes for the first time.
Existing tenants who want to transfer homes
There are a number of options available if a tenant needs or wants to move out of their property. Tenants wishing to move can register on Locata and bid for properties of their choice.
Tenants can register for mutual exchanges in order to try and find a new home. This allows a tenant to swap homes with another tenant in social housing.
If tenants need to move home because they can no longer live independlty, SBHA offers sheltered accommodation. Alternatively, if they wish to stay in their home but need adaptations to be able to do so, they can contact Staying Put Services for an adaptation.
SBHA also offers other options of moving including shared ownership and spilt tenancies.
Moving into a SBHA home for the first time
Most of our vacancies are made available to local councils and housing associations via Locata. We no longer have an open waiting list. We are therefore unable to offer accommodation unless you come through to us via the Choice Based Lettings Scheme.
To register on Locata and for further advice on housing schemes, please approach your local council. Housing Options also offers advice on affordable housing www.housingoptions.co.uk. People interested in temporary accommodation might also be eligible for one of the following:
We ensure that all empty properties meet the agreed standard set by our Independent Tenants’ Committee. For further information please refer to our Lettable Home Standard.
