Split tenancies
Shepherds Bush Housing Association (SBHA) has a yearly quota of tenants who can take part in the Split Tenancy scheme.
Overcrowded households might be eligible to split up their household to help with the overcrowding.
Split tenancies are agreed in two instances:
1. If a family is overcrowded and if the move of one adult in a household would reduce the overcrowded situation. In this case we would offer the adult member a one bedroom flat or a bed-sit flat. If the adult member wanting to move out has a child more than 12 months old they are given the option to be placed on the two-bedroom transfer list.
2. If SBHA gains a larger property by moving the adult members of the household to smaller units.
Applicants will receive two reasonable offers of accommodation. If these are refused, the application will be suspended for six months, subject to the right of appeal against this decision.
Households in rent arrears or who are causing anti-social behaviour will not normally be made an offer of alternative accommodation.
