Tenant monitors are our “eyes and ears” on our estates. They are an important part of our service and help neighbourhood officers keep an eye on what's happening locally.

They ensure that issues such as cleaning and the upkeep of communal areas are reported to us between visits carried out by neighbour officers.

Tenant monitors help us be proactive and help us delivery good services at all times. Their input into decision-making and ensure we get value for money for the services provided.

Lindsay Leyburn has lived at Northcroft Court in Shepherds Bush for the past 13 years. He is a cornerstone of the community and is working with SBHA to set up a local residents’ association.

He said: “I’ve learnt how to say greetings in different languages including Polish, Serbo-Croat, Arabic, Urdu and Filipino. This builds up a rapport with my fellow residents.”

“I’m a tenant monitor, which involves acting as the eyes and ears on the estate. I ensure that cleaning and gardening services are carried out to a high standard and report back to SBHA.

“As a member of the Independent Tenants’ Committee, I meet tenants from other properties. We consult on all matters relating to SBHA’s performance, policies and procedures. We also discuss other matters affecting tenant services and the general direction of SBHA.

“Age is no limit to helping your community. People can make a difference to their neighbourhood.”
