Learning and development

A great company is only as great as the people involved. The only thing our competitors cannot copy – our only truly unique and lasting competitive edge – is our people.

So SBHG actively encourages our people to learn new skills and develop the desire to make use of those skills.
SBHG has an extensive learning and development programme including a purpose built management development programme. This is in its second year. We also offer support for employees undertaking professional qualifications.

Management, personal development and specialist courses are available for all employees who identify a need for these with their managers.

Over the past year, on average, staff have attended more that six training sessions. These range from external courses to short workshops and lunchtime briefings.

A combination of classroom learning, one-to-one coaching, management learning groups, mentoring and conferences aim to give everyone access to tailored solutions that aid continued professional development. This is because we realise that people are our most important assets.

Learning and development is integrated into the way that we plan how to carry out our work. It forms part of the regular one-to-one meetings that all our employees have with their managers.
