Background
I started as a volunteer with SF in November 2008 as an administration officer for two days a week. I had completed a course in Housing Management but didn’t feel confident enough to apply for work. I was advised to explore voluntary work to help build my confidence.
Volunteering has opened so many doors for me. Through SF I have made some important contacts which has enabled me to enrol on a local IT course to develop and update my skills, help with my CV and assist with job applications.
What I do
I come to the office and have a short meeting with my manager briefing me on what is planned. At the moment I am working closely with Campden Charities who help elderly people by giving them small cash grants. I enjoy the days I go out on visits.
About me
I enjoy every day I come to work. I get the boys ready for school then we all leave for work and school. On the train I sit next to business people in suits heading off to the city to work and now I feel just like one of them.
