PlaceShapers Group
SBHG is a founder member of the PlaceShapers Group. This is a national alliance of medium sized housing associations bound by a common ethos of working locally with partners and residents.
PlaceShapers is lobbying central Government and the new Homes and Communities Agency and the Tenant Services Authority to ensure they recognise the work of local community-based housing associations.
We want to ensure they do not push us off the table in favour of the bigger, nationally oriented housing associations.
The following principles sum up the ethos of the PlaceShapers Group:
- That we put our residents and customers at the centre of what we do and ensure they have real influence on how our organisations evolve
- That we provide more than simple landlord services because we care about the people and places where we work
- That we recognise the importance of the local authority role and support local authority partners in improving and shaping places at both a strategic and operational level
- That we believe there is strength and benefit to residents and stakeholders in maintaining a strong, independent, diverse, non-profit making sector.
